New Twist on A Home Filing System Organized Living for Peace of Mind
I'm definitely not an organizing guru.
I'm not even a professional organizer. I'm a graphic designer who just couldn't take the mountains of paper on her dining room table anymore.
So I put a new creative twist on the old-fashioned filing system
And I have some logical thinking behind my blasphemous paper retention advice
I also have mixed feelings on going paperless
But, I am loved (blush) by some pretty well know professional organizers
My story is pretty simple.
The dreaded feeling of opportunities missed, responsibilities postponed, time wasted and money lost got the best of me.
After unsuccessful results with a number of logical, analytical filing systems and notebooks, I finally realized you can’t just plop a bunch of folders in a box or fill out a blob of worksheets and poof... the chaos and clutter magically disappears.
Yes, logically it should work but I needed more motivation. I also needed to invest some real quality time into understanding the details that were creating my life.
Those details were in my papers.
My name is Cathy Anderson and I am the creator of JOYS, a colorful inspiring method for organizing life by organizing papers. My focus is to help others organize their papers for peace-of-mind and more time.
Why would a graphic designer with a degree in visual communications choose a new career path?
I knew my 20+ years of graphic design experience could be tapped into to provide a more creative, effective and stylish approach to filing papers. What I didn't realize, until sinking my teeth into the project, was how one choice affected so many different areas of my life.
I realized papers were evidence of my choices. Obviously I wasn't making very good ones.
Because, I was physically, mentally and spiritually exhausted.
So, I quit my job to take a breath for the first time in years. I wanted to start enjoying life and start a family.
I figured the best way to do that was to start making myself accountable for my happiness. I needed to start taking better care of myself, start making more conscious choices, and start taking care of my stuff.
JOYS was the result of my desire to start something new in my life. When I say new, I don’t mean start a business.
I mean, start a life.
I knew simplifying, getting organized and taking care of responsibilities would help me find balance and peace of mind. I also had a hunch it would make me happier.
And it has.
With everything I do, I am hoping help to you find your balance and peace of mind and maybe, just maybe a bit more happiness along the way. I try to make things short, fresh and inspiring, because time is precious and boring information will fog your brain...
